How come every time Diane had a day off on Cheers, she'd still wind up back at the bar, usually on a date with frasier?

Who is that... who hangs out at the watering hole where one works for a date? Even my Irish and Brit bar owners I know do not do that... no one does that. Owner of ice cream shop doesn't go get free ice cream from his store on day away... his kids (family etc) working there might brings some home but... Work and Date? Really-what a nightmare.
