Besides going dutch on dates, do you also take turns at times?

I'm single now but when I was in a relationship, we used to take turns at times. It wasn't always going dutch. At times, I simply like spoiling him on one of the dates and vice-versa.

When it was my b-day, then yes he would pay. Why would I be going dutch on my own day? When it was his b-day I would pay for the date too.

I had a long distance relationship and the deal was if one of us spent the money to fly out to see the other , once he/she got there he/she did not have to pay for anything.

If splitting the bill is always, at all times then yes it's cheap since he would only be focusing on himself. It takes away the fun of spoiling your partner at times and going out of your way to actually put some effort, make them feel appreciated, do a gesture, etc.

I think so too but I've noticed certain guys (not sure if it's on this site or elsewhere) going on the extreme of going dutch at ALL times and never taking turns; focusing on himself and not putting any effort. I think I saw a post once about a girl that had to split the bill on her own b-day; that's rude.
