How to ask out a guy at work?

So there’s this guy that works at my company in my region. Only problems are 1) we are remote so we’ve never actually met 2) I work in hr 😂
Anyway, I understand he’s single and these older ladies I work with used to egg me on that he was single lol. He called me today about work and goes “you live in ___ (city) right?” And I answered it but accidental kind of cut the convo with the way I answered. I feel like he was trying to make non work related convo. Ugh! He’s so attractive would love to get a drink with him but feel like it’s frowned upon as hr. Any advice?
