Short man syndrome doesn’t mean all short or below average height men have aggressive personalities.

Short men syndrome just means short men are more likely than tall men to have aggressive personality due to feeling inadequate and insecure because of their height. Do you think this sounds true?

I present to you some evidence “for”….. this idiot is a goalie in my hockey league. He makes unprovoked cheap shots and gets into fights or shoving matches ALL THE TIME. I’ve played against him less than ten times and I’ve scuffled with him twice already lmfao. And it’s not just me, I’m just a new guy in the league who isn’t about to put up with it, this kid has a track record.

Incident 1: first time I saw the kid (goalie in yellow) wasn’t even my game. This is the one where he’s the least instigatory, but #33 in red was knocked off balance into him, and the kid wants to fight about it. #33 is a good 6’3 and probably 230 lbs, MINIMUM…

I also saw him almost get into it with another player who has way better restraint than me, because he just gave the kid the “talk-talk-talk, all you do is talk”, to which he of course postured like a tough guy…

Then I played him. He was on my radar since the scrap with #33 from the red team was just the week before, and I had watched it happen and started to hear about the goalie’s bad reputation in the league. You’ll see he very deliberately hooks my skate (I’m #44 in green here) and rips it out from under me. I gave him a look like “what the fuck?” when I stood up, and he made some sort of verbal challenge to me, which I spun around and almost obliged but I caught myself…

Then the next time I played him, he was up to his old tricks after we got tangled up and his defenseman pushed me into him, and he came up swinging…

This went poorly for him. Very satisfying for me and the rest of the league😂

I figured he’d maybe settle down after getting dropped, but the VERY NEXT WEEK, he’s out swinging his stick at people’s backs…. (I went over my pic limit, a couple have to be links, sorry, was trying to keep it low-effort for everyone, haha)

His team won the championship last season, and the opponents should have had the game tied with this goal, but it was disallowed because GUESS WHO tripped someone, caused another fracas, and caused the ref to miss the goal being scored?

Fast forward to our current season, everything had been cool with us, he stopped with the dumb stick work on me. But then two games ago he tries to trip me with his stick as I skated past him…

Then in our last game, he trips and straight up CHOPS my teammate, who is a dentist in his fucking 60s for fuck sake. “Doc” lightly confronted him, just kind of like “why, dude?”, not even posturing to fight, and this idiot starts challenging him to do something about it, and that just wasn’t happening on my watch. I came over to step in (I’m #8 in gray in this one) and the kid immediately hits me in the face, and we got to fighting again, although we were quickly broken up…

I got ejected after that (and he gets to stay because he’s the goalie and we can’t play without him😒😒😒), and it’s a good thing I wasn’t there, because he continued starting shit by shoulder-bumping one of our players who had said something to him about his bullshit earlier instead of shaking his hand, which then prompted our back-up goalie who doesn’t even know the kid to challenge him, and there was a near-fight then, too.

This was last Wednesday, the goalie and I are both suspended for tomorrow’s game because of the fight last week, so I’m just glad he’s finally facing repercussions, even if I have to suffer them with him, because nobody wants this kid here, and the parent league brass just doesn’t even know about him, it’s up to the manager of our individual league to report for additional discipline, and finally after six months of this bullshit, it’s happening. I just want him on the league’s radar, because he was actually banned from the previous league we had in the area, but that folded during Covid, so this kid is back and hasn’t done enough stupid shit yet to get booted again. “Yet.”🙄😒

I can confirm, yes, it is very much true. Short men are literally one of the only demographics in this Woke Era we're in, that's still acceptable to mock and make fun of. Short men ("manlets"), unattractive single men ("incels"), and straight white men ("Trump supporters/alt-right/White nationalists"). Everything else is seen as "a protected class."

When society sh*ts on you for something you had no control over, it's kinda hard to just "take it on the chin" and be happy about it, anyway. That's why I admire and respect dudes like @bigpauly. I don't have that ungodly level of optimism. I'm a realist. Which means, I'm also a cynic.

I guarantee you if I was 6'5"/195 cm, I'd be happily married by now. And if I was at least 6'1"/185 cm, I'd be in a long term relationship by now. But I'm not. Meanwhile, some other 6'3" dude who beats his wife and cheats on her, gets to be in a relationship and earn six figures, while some 5'8" lonely dude in his late 20s is tying a rope around his neck in his bedroom right now.

Life is unfair. Kinda hard to not get angry at that, sometimes. Not that it's other people's fault; they shouldn't be blamed. But still.

I have a group of friends like 6 dudes most of us are 6 feet or above

BUT there is this one guy that is 5'5 and he ALWAYS tries to impress us/ other guys / women with some stupid shit

Like he tries to drink much more then we do on a night out he buys drinks for half the club or bar i mean why is he doing that

Because he feels like he is worse then us and he is compensating for it with dumb things

Its the same thing with guys that drive normal regular car and guy that has a car way out of his league of income

We all know this one dude that works at minimum wage job he is 20 or 21 and he drives BMW from 2021 that he almost can't pay off and he is not a good driver either Its the same with fat old dudes with ferrari they got no women they got small dicks so they compensate for it with a ferrari

I think its real for sure and true... short man syndrome is a real thing. But honestly I don't think short guys are any more or less likely to be aggressive just because of their hieght. But some sure seem to be sensitive about it

But I know a lot of big talk aggressive ass holes that talk and big and aggressive just because they feel they can because whose going to stop them from being.

Most of the short men where I worked 5' 6" to 5' 9" bought large quad cab trucks that were jacked up and they had to have an extra step bar on it to get in it. They kept talking about their big trucks and saying every real man needs a big truck. lol

They wasted between $55k to $65k on them.

It's more nuanced than that. Chances are these guys have also been bullied because they were smaller and really it doesn't stop. It would make anyone angry.

Of course, there is still personal responsibility to it too, but this post also solidifies the stigma against shorter men.

has a lot to do with how people want to see short men. If taller they want to see you as submissive or inferior whether that’s conscious or subconscious male or female.

Assertiveness can be taken as aggressive as well when you’re short. But no one wants what they perceive as a little brother telling them what to do.
In other words you can’t have short men syndrome without other people having fragile egos.
