How do I tell my best friend that I have a crush on him?

But sometimes you can't really promise for nothing to change if he knew that I had a crush on him he would probably be overthinking things that he does so he doesn't hurt me

Yep that's a possibility So now you have to weigh your options. Do you just want to keep your mouth shut and remain friends or go the other route. I always think that you should go after what you want think back and wishing for it to happen

My perspective of it all is I should just keep my mouth shut cause I have shut my mouth for like 8 years now and leave the situation alone so that I don't ruin anything I'd rather us be friends throughout high school and then tell him like at the last second

Just tell him.
I know you don't want to ruin the friendship, but if you think that way and let that fear prevent you from telling a guy you like him, you will be single forever, which is much worse than losing a friend.
