Don't pay too much attention to the face xD Just look at the cut Try to imagine the cuts on other guys. In general, which one would you find more attractive?

This is the same haircut styled two different ways. The cut is very important.

But okay, to answer your question, slick for formal situations or maybe work. 'Messy' as in edgy is good/preferred more of the time. Not messy as in completely unkempt. Guys who are not too vain or too high-maintenance are attractive. But you also don't want a guy who refuses to put a brush through it or owns zero hair products. Style it when wet, with a wax or texturizer or gel or mouse or lotion, and then forget about it for the rest of the day. That nonchalant attitude is sexy.

I prefer bald, actually. But the quiff was in when I was in high school so I guess if I had to choose, slick. Not overly done with gel though. If I can see that a guy put too much time and effort in his hair, Im kinda turned off. But I dont want him looking a mess either.
