I don’t find his phone calls at all interesting, what do I do?

i’ve been dating this guy for a few months and truly he’s great. we have very great chemistry in person, we see each other like once a week, however every time we call on the call it’s so awkward. it’s usually very one sided and it’s always him talking about the things he knows and finds interesting. he talks about topics related to physics, chemistry, math, history, engineering, architecture, all for fun. which is cool and all but like usually i can’t even say anything and it’s just me listening to him ramble for hours. he doesn’t give me a chance to speak ever. i feel really mean for saying this but i hate calling him. i don’t want to hurt his feelings or be mean. how can i improve our calls or how can i politely express to him how i’m feeling?
