I don't think it's weird at all, I jump on my Harley, no specific destination. I just take off and go. I get the opportunity to clear my mind, nobody else to worry about but myself. I love it. I encourage you to do it

Not weird so much as dangerous. You don't want to get abducted by human traffickers or something.

I'm even a bit shy of solo travel in lots of places because you always want someone watching your back in an unfamiliar place.

I'm from Malta. Apart from some areas it's mostly safe. Roads are being redone (again) so there's that going on. If you have any question just ask.

And the answer is no right now I'm in turkey alone, if it was for vacation I'd have had truckloads of fun but it's for work, I would recommend you try it I'd be much less worried about weirdness than about your safety though so make sure you don't get scammed and know beforehand which areas you shouldn't spend time in
