Is it okay to ask to reschedule a date?

Me and a guy planned to go on a date this weekend. It would be our 4th one. I am busy this weekend going to an event all weekend, but was planning to leave early one day to see him. But now I think I should reschedule it now because I had told my friends previously that I was planning to be at the event all day with them and I did pay a lot of money to go to this. And I also don’t want to be so exhausted from the event that I don’t enjoy our date as much. But I know we can’t hang out the next weekend and didn’t get to last weekend and so I don’t want him to lose interest if we don’t see each other often enough. I do think if I ask soon I would be giving plenty of time/not be last minute because it would be roughly 4 days before the date. What would you suggest I do?

A guy that is genuinely interested in you will be willing to wait for you, if he dumps you because you were busy for 3 weeks, he is not a good boyfriend.

Can’t do weekdays cause he works nights and I have class during the day that’s why it has to be weekends
