My doctor asked me out?

My dentist started following me on instagram, then he sent me a dm asking me out. I thought it was weird and inappropriate. Are doctors allowed to ask out patients? What would you do if you were in my position?

not sure some dentists have certain rules there suppose to follow , asking out a client does seem unprofessional
i know here there is a rule that dental hygenists aren't even allowed to clean the teeth of people they know well , like a boyfriend or husband , there not suppose to be a client or clean there teeth if that makes sense
