I would not date someone that I think is stupid.

I'm definitely not the smartest person ever but I'm good educated and I keep building up my education and I need something similar.
Like my man can be plus/minus on my level of education or higher/better but anything less... ain't my type.

Also he needs to be street smart too! Cause I can't talk with people who are just booksmart, I'm literally laughing on the inside and already walking away from that convo

I don't care about her formal education beyond high school, especially in modern times when information is available at your fingertips and you can educate yourself far beyond what has ever been possible before.

I don't want a completely ignorant girl, but that doesn't mean that I care whether she has a college degree, because that's irrelevant to me, and it's irrelevant to most men. Very simply, men want very different things in a woman than women want in men.

Lots of women are shocked to learn that men don't care about their degrees or their careers (in the sense that it earns her points as a prospective relationship partner), but if you look at it from a man's perspective, not only does it not bring any advantages to the man (women may pay a portion of the bills - usually less than the man - but it's very rare that a woman provides spending money to a man as men often do to women), but it usually means that the woman has squandered her most valuable characteristics to a man - her youth and fertility - to her career. To a man, at least to one looking for a serious relationship or marriage, that's not a positive, it's a negative.

My husband is very intelligent already. He went to college for a while but sadly had to stop cause it got to expensive. My grandfather only had 3rd grade level of education before he had to stop and start working. He build his own house and farm and raised 13 kids along with my grandmother. I have uncle who's a mechanic, never went to school. So you can be smart without education and stupid with it, in opinion as long as he has high school diploma then it's fine. Now a days you have people with phds and can't even tell the difference between a woman and damn man anymore. 😒

I definitely do, unfortunately. It's classiest, elitist, and probably some other ist, but I do value intelligence and education. When I was single and dating, I didn't want to be in a situation where the kinds of things I like to discuss or find interesting were intimidating or off-putting. There are a lot of insecure men with inferiority complexes, who hate women being smarter than they are or more educated. (Educated men can also be like this, to be fair, so there are other factors that are key too.)

Also, usually, more education = higher income, ambition, and stability. I live in an expensive city and don't want leave, and may want to have a baby. I've been attracted to a broke guy before (and he was very intelligent and educated actually - just a struggling artist), but I'm thankful that it didn't work out, because that kind of struggle is not something I desire. I was ready to jump off the edge for that guy though, won't lie, so sometimes the feels are definitely strong enough to win against logic. He wasn't interested and perhaps jealous about my success, based on some comments/behaviors. Fast forward and now I'm with a guy who is very educated, intelligent, and financially successful and supportive of my own career and ambition. That's the thing - he doesn't need to be threatened by mine because he has his own education and success! It's so nice lol

I'm a social science nerd and I find so many things interesting. I've found that often people who are less educated are not as driven by the same interests or as fluent in discussing the same kinds of topics. That's not always the case, of course, and there are many life/financial reasons someone doesn't have access to higher education. Even so, I do tend to find the lack of that influence tends to reflect in interests, life paths, priorities, ambition, etc., even if that person is intelligent. That would drain me in a relationship and I don't want it.

No, I don't for a very simple reason. I've met people who have Ph. D.' or M. S, or M. A. who are as dense as a neutron star outside of their fields of expertise. And many of those think that their degrees make them experts in everything. I have also met high school dropouts who smoke me in chess (I just crossed 2000 ELO, so not Hikaru or Magnus, but not a pushover, either.)

I myself am a university drop out. Why? Because my business was generating far more than I could ever hope to earn from my degree.

yes, I love someone that's smart and also intelligent... but that does not always equates or reflects on your level of education, education gives you a career... the smarts and intelligence are yours and from you, not handed at schools

the smartest and also most intelligent person I've met, she quit high-school and went into business, she also happens to be the most successful within my circles and perhaps the happiest person I've ever met as well

I dropped at college as well, followed a similar path, went into business and I do fairly well and... so, no, degrees will not faze me nor impress me

People over-rate education. Just because someone went to university doesn't mean they're smart. Nowadays university is just a factory to churn out as many barely-qualified students as they can. And it gives people a false sense of entitlement. I'm going to graduate with my PhD in a stem field next year and I'd rather be with a woman who's financially literate and level-headed but has a two-year college diploma than a woman with a master's and a mountain of debt who thinks she's owed the world and spends money frivelously.

Education is overrated and a scam for the most part. If you are doing something that requires higher education for a career like lawyer or doctor, etc then that makes sense, but other than that, a piece of paper means jack shit about the individual as a whole.

All you have is something saying you were smart enough to get past a certain level of reciting crap you were taught. People who work trades would be more valuable and can earn way more than people give them credit for.

Intelligence in a partner is important. However, if you need a guy to have like a PhD or Masters as the equivalent to just be worthy outside of street smarts, you are only shooting yourself in the foot.

It's important but not as important as loyalty, morality, love, age and sexual attractiveness. My brother is a year older he an I make good money but unlike my wife his wife she is 40 the same age as him, she has a high flying career and two kids and a house and they are miserable together. She resents him because he doesn't make as much money and because they have kids while he resents her because he doesn't find her attractive as she had let herself go. Meanwhile I'm married to a 25 year old who is in her prime and the sex is amazing.

However, I must add that the person can't be obnoxious about it nor should they assume that someone is less intelligent just because they do not have possession of a formal degree. I have met people without a degree who are smarter than those in my PhD program.

Yes, if you're talking about basic intelligence it's one of the more important things. I don't care if they went to university or not, but they should have intelligence and know basic things that you learn before the age of 16. It's a huge turn-off if they can't do basic maths problems in their head or are just generally unintelligent tbh.

Education is very important but it is not the only thing. Overall, 140 women will graduate with a college degree at some level this year for every 100 men. That implies to me that it may not be realistic to demand that a man has the same level or greater education.

I dated a girl that was finishing up her PhD in psychology that was obviously " book smart" but not so much on other things. She was very attractive too, but just not smart about so many things outside of her degrees and she didn't have much common sense. Intelligence is one of the qualities in a woman that I find sexy!

I want someone that is intelligent, not necessarily educated (indoctrinated). Plenty of the teachers I have worked with are not very intelligent. Some of my former co-workers that are bus drivers and maintenance workers are more intelligent than some of the teachers I know IRL.

Um... I'd say it's more of a perk than a requirement. I want her to be intellectually stimulating to deal with, and the women I find stimulating also tend to be educated, but I've definitely found stimulating with highschool (or lower) educations.

Nope. Don't give a fuck. In fact I usually find more education for women gives worse results. So I tend to not even bother dating women who have 4yr degrees or higher. Most girls I date have no higher education. Which shocks people a lot since I'm highly educated and intellectually and financially accomplished people thing I'd be dating lawyers or doctors. I would be more impressed with a woman that could change a tire. Plant a garden. Preserve the food that she raised. Skin a deer that she killed and back up a trailer!
If she had a college degree. That could be a plus. But not required.

I have friends with doctorates and some with high school educations. I have friends that make minimum wage and I have friends who are millionaires. Everyone puts thier pants on one leg at a time. People's value are not determined by these things and I loathe anybody he believes they do.
