How come people keep on claiming that my ex girlfriend has blocked me cause my text messages aren't going through as iMessage?

So my ex and I broke up back in July but we are still friends. We both have iPhones and recently about 2 weeks ago, she went out of the country for a business trip. I tried sending her an message on my phone and it failed to deliver as an iMessage, the phone automatically switched to send as text message and it has stayed as that since then. She's currently in Vietnam right now for a business meeting. She didn't respond to me on the phone but she did respond to me on facebook when I messaged her on there. I talked with my therapist and my therapist says its most likely she's out the country and thats why iMessage isn't working, thinking that she might have turned off data roaming and is only using wifi connection to make facebook posts. My friends on the other hand says something different. One of my friends who works as an sheriffs deputy told me that he thinks that she blocked me and that is why it isn't going through. He said " iMessage works worldwide, if you data connection you have iMessage, she doesn't want to talk to you so stop contacting her before she calls the police." I don't get why he thinks that she blocked me when my therapist says that she probably didn't block me and that its just cause she's out of the country. My friend decided to be an jerk and told me that my therapist is only sugar coating it to help make me feel better. Why is everyone keep on implying on that she blocked my phone number? She responded to me on facebook so its clear that she and I are ok. Please help me.
