I have to say that I’m a little bit confused how or why this is a question.

Maybe I'm just "dude brain"-ing hardcore, but it seems like being happy that someone who you like likes you back seems like the most natural, logical reaction in the world. I'm assuming that you have some reason to think otherwise though... I don't know, maybe it's simple to me because I don't have the full picture of why you're asking this.

Well also he probably didn't think I would like him. Cause he's a cute nerdy guy. He's also inexperienced so when he said I was beautiful and that I liked him he was very shocked that I would even feel that about him. Does that make sense? :)

Gotcha, so there's some self esteem issues there. People get weird when they feel insecure, but I would say a normal person's reaction to your question would be happiness.
