Because if they could take the guy it means they are superior to the other girl in some way.

Plus, the guy had been certified as "approved" by another guy so you know for sure he is good material. It's like going shopping and you aren't sure if the product is good or not. If you asked the girl who bought it and she assured you it's quality then you would buy it feeling safe.
