I was living with a guy who seem to have a problem with me, he would always curse me out, one day i got fed up and yelled back and he hit me. I was so angry and decuded to press charges but i am ashamed i did, the police might thunk i am crazy too

If he struck you, then why feel ashamed that you pressed charges?

Why would it matter if the police think something? They are there to be impartial, if something happened that resulted in them being called for then that is what they are there for. Not adding their personal views to a situation.

You stood up for yourself, sounds like they didn't like it. Nor could properly handle the fact that someone stood up to them. Doesn't give them the right to strike you.

I have seen a guy get an ashtray *about 5lbs* thrown at his head, hitting him in the torso, then she flew at him slapping at him. All he did was grasp her shoulders, place her on the couch and then walk out. Personally I have been hit multiple times in the face by a lady that was drunk. Just made sure there was a seat behind her as I pushed her off. Then walked out. There is always a better way to handle a situation, until there isn't. Its up to the participants to decide on what those options are.
