When girls do that, and I tell them I'd like to talk more and or say we should try to spend time together, they usually push me away and nothing happens.
When a girl likes a guy enough to act like that, why do they usually end up pushing me away and blowing me off? And is there any way for the guy to minimize the chances of her rejecting him and pushing him away?

I would prefer if he kissed me instead.
Well I did that with my crush and I wanted him to kiss me. But he didn't. :(
When they're really shy I'll never get to the point where I can kiss them. They'll become attached and intimate, but they'll run for the hills before ever really becoming close. They might have fearful avoidant attachment, where they crave closeness but push people away.
I don't push people away. People like that are stupid.
