This guy I'm into doesn't want to date me because he feels like he's going to hurt me intentionally. Not physically hurt but mentally. I dont know what he means by that but he does want to keep me in his life cause he cares about me.

When a man gives you this kind of warning, LISTEN TO HIM. He is being honest and if you continue, what he is warning you about is very likely to come to pass. Do NOT think you can change him - you can't. You can't fix him. You can't make him want a relationship. And even if it hurts that he doesn't want those things, be thankful that he is being honest upfront, because he could have lied, led you on, and only told you the truth AFTER you had invested everything into him.

I realize that you probably won't heed my warning anymore than you did his, but at least take personal responsibility when you end up hurt later, because it is YOUR choice to go forward and take on the risks of being further hurt. When it goes bad, the only person to blame is yourself.

Yep that’s 100% a good reason. He’s aware he has flaws and isn’t relationship material at the moment/ maybe just isn’t into you enough, so that’s definitely something you should take seriously and figure out from there
