Should I help my girlfriend work towards a common goal?

My girlfriend has been an avid horse lover and has worked with them most of her life. I was wondering is it wise for couples to work towards a common goal? Like look for some land build a house and maybe train horses or rear them? I don't mind building things because I am a builder, so that's up my lane.
