A divorced guy I really like was cheated on by his then wife. Some days I really think he likes me back. Could it be he’s just scared to make a move?

I have no experience with dating divorced dads or guys that have been cheated on. My heart breaks for him. I wish there was some way I could show him I would never do that. I get along great with his daughter (I’m one of her coaches) and (I think) him. He is forever teasing me about something. I want him to take a chance on me, but I’m not at all good at initiating. I’ve been burned numerous times in the past. Thoughts?

Well first of all is he passed his ex? Because even though they’re divorced he may still love her despite the shit she did. She was the one who ended the relationship, not him so he may still have feelings for her. So I’d make sure that’s for sure a done deal. Then I’d just continue to show more interest. Maybe you do some little extra things here and there. Maybe you say something like I got you this, maybe something to eat pointing out that he’s probably busy a lot as a single father so he may not have had time to eat. If you can show how good his daughter gets a long w you that may help. Taking a little extra interest in her. But just being there for him. If he needs to talk.

I guess I should note he doesn’t know I know that’s why he got divorced. He asked for the divorce. He does an awesome job co-parenting. The daughter spends the majority of the time with him. He gets along well with his ex, who is in a serious relationship. I also get along with his ex, which turns out is why his last relationship ended. The previous girlfriend didn’t like how close they were, but they’re parents and need to communicate often to properly raise their daughter. I’ve mentioned that I admire how good they are at co-parenting. I wish all divorced parents could get it together that well.

Maybe he second guesses every choice he makes and is skeptical about it after being cheated on. I think you should make a move. He might like you but never make a move on you with his past experience. You should ask him out

You’re both going to have to be brave here otherwise I doubt it’ll work. I was open to saying divorced men and I did in my last relationship, boy I’ve learned that a lot of issues tend to come with that. Only you can decide whether it’s worth it or not. Maybe you’ll make it or maybe you’ll just be better off as friends.
