Did you ever have an older person judge you while you were at a date?

I once went on a date with this guy for the very first time. It was not even that romantic, we were just chatting. But I noticed an a middle-aged lady was nodding and smiling as she saw me come - she was sitting next to us. She was sitting with a young girl and stealing little glances at me like something was funny. I made the guy wait for about 15 mins because my train was late. Could that be why? Because he was sitting there alone and I had appeared a bit late.
