Why are big appetites considered attractive?

I've always heard saying like I'd fall in love with a women if she had an appetite like that. Or I love someone who can really eat! I've just always found it amusing but maybe slightly degenerate. Because the only thing I can come up with is a strong appetite means you should have strong strength. Which means better performance in the bedroom. Thats the only thing that makes sense to me. Is a person having a strong appetite attractive to you and if so why?
