Okay, if I had no connections to the Ex and knew all her dark secrets and trailt, I would be thanking your friend for getting that train wreck away from you. If I was still connected then I would be hurt. When I am done then I am done and if he wanted to tag it, I would have no issues. I am sure I had told him how crazy she was. And most guys don't forget that. Oh, that strikes a reality that I would assume 30 would know.

I learned this at a very young age given the Guys hierarchical systems and "Top Dog" everyone wants to be. Never tell the friends unless it has been made damn clear that "she is mine... go find some other port in which you can dock... don't let me see you smiling at her etc with a woody etc. There is much more explicit detail than this but you get the gist of it.

I am not surprised by it especially if you humanized her with the friend. If you secondarily created a bond for him through confiding then am not surprised in the least. In a way, you set yourself up for this. That being said, I would question his judgment and whether he has your "best guy friend" interest at heart.

I would feel disappointed but not betrayed as I know ultimately it is about the scoot-scoot. I would be more like, "so, is she is good as I told you she was for me..." There's Costs and Benefits in this arrangement and i would take your benefits... that's just me though. You make your own decisions. At some point, he realizes that he is drudging through a sewer line that has been filled and likely snaked more than once.
