Is this going behind his back?

i've shown this guy both pictures of my parents. His mother died years ago and he's never shown me what she looked like until i did some research and saw her. She was really pretty. So one day i showed him another picture of my mom and he tells me he will show me a picture of his mom. The picture he showed me was a different woman so i jokingly said it wasn't but he said it was but eventually admitted it wasn't. So i told him i saw his mother and he was pretty upset i found out how she looked and who she was.
