Some people in the world battle their inner demons, their childhood, and their past. Its not our job to "take it" but always have enough compassion to recognize that their life experiences could be very different. I knew someone who we all liked to joking call "The peacemaker" because he always wanted to try to cool down situations, often too quickly. The one reason we kept him around was because he truly understood how to forgive others, we all just wanted him to learn to forgive himself.

Often someone who wants to not end on bad terms actually love and cares for you, it doesn't mean selfishness. It could mean they want to grow and mature, especially if they always lost people suddenly in the past. It could mean they know what they lost in your breakup.

And the last one, for men, it could mean they Love and Care for you so much they want your happiness above theirs and want to show you that by making amends and peace while still respecting any choice you make.
