He hasn’t contacted me since and he told a mutual friend of ours that the date was nice but felt platonic

Well he Was interested then and although the date went well, he didn't feel a connection... happens. I've only been dating men who had their heart on their sleeve. When they said they had a great time, they had a great time and we'd plan the next date. Unlucky, but at least the date went well it's something :)
