Girls and guys if this new generation is broke then how do you plan to date, marry and create a family?

My parents weren't rich but were serious savers. They planned all this BEFORE they married and continued it throughout their lives. They left my brother and me enough money to help us and there is still a few more thousand in stocks that we're dissolving 12 years after my dad's death.

I think if you make a plan and live that plan, avoid excessive charging or loans and live a frugal life, not lifestyles you can't afford or keeping up with the Joneses, it is eminently possible to have a family. It might take longer to get a home than it did in the past, but I think it can still be done. There are starter homes and homes that need to be fixed up that are cheaper to get that walk-in/live-ins.

Young folk have seen a lot of pretty pictures of lives they believe they deserve, not lives that they have to work up to, which is how most of their grandparents and parents had to live.

My parents always said get the best you can afford. That might start off being a manufactured home in a trailer park. Then a fixer-upper in a so-so neighborhood. But a final move would be a better neighborhood and a better house. That is part of the progression I went through. The house I'm in now is in a great neighborhood, I paid nearly nothing for it, it is paid for by my inheritance upon my dad's death. But it needed a lot of interior and exterior work and recently I added a new roof. All paid for through my inheritance.

Spending WELL is a giant achievement and pays you back every day. In grad school, I took out no loans, but worked my way through and had part time jobs to pay my way. So I left with no debt following me. Planning and following through. Getting the best you can AFFORD!

This means you WILL NOT GET ALL YOU WANT. But you will get what you need. When you can learn to live with this, you are nearly always home free.

Good to know you got the inheritance. Are you married?

Nope. It's all gone though. But I have a 150mph wind roof, house paid for, a vacation paid for, plumbing and AC fixes. It was well spent and I'm pretty secure. I wouldn't mind being married again if someone wanted me and I thought they were a good match. Tina Turner had a late marriage and stayed with him until her death. Seems they were a great match. I keep hoping. I can sing a bit like Tina, can't dance as well t hough. But I can play a little guitar. I think I have a chance!! ahahahaha

i dont need to buy a house, i have one already, if i want to date i can and build my career to earn more, invest spare cash and prepare for the future, i always said to myself i wouldn't have children unless i could afford an independent education for them. so if it doesn't happen it doesn't matter

I don't have a job. I am neither rich nor poor. I have a house and good family background. I don't know how and when will I have money in my pocket and how I will take care of future wife and kids. But I want a girlfriend, wedding and I want to make babies with her. 😞😟😕🙁☹️😣😖😫😩🥺😢😭😤 I am frustrated.

The money ain't the isue the mindset is the problem for this generation. As for financial status they will get trough it when the wolf bites you have no choice but to fight back and try to survive.

My daughters 18-24 are doing pretty well for themselves as well as their boyfriends. I see people around 30 struggling and complaining a lot about housing.

Broke as in financial hardships or broke as in broken mentality?

Obviously, financially.

There’s always a way out of financial hardships. It may seem like there’s never a way out, but there is. Even if that means exploring new territory and going out on limbs. You can still date, marry, and raise kids on limited income, it may not be so easy, but you still can.

But how? I am broke, I don't know how I will take care of my future wife and kids. I am desperate to find a girl who understands me. I want to date, marry and make babies.

If you’re not content in your financial situation then get a different job, maybe one you’ve never had before just something with more income or something to start out that you can work your way up. It’s not a straight come up to the top. When I met my now husband we had nothing. We lived with his mom for a while after we got married. We both put ourselves out there to pursue something other than the restaurant jobs we were working at. It wasn’t easy it sucked and there were tears, but we powered through. Now we are expecting a baby and we make enough I can take off a few years of work to care for the child. It is not easy and I cannot stress that enough. Talk to people you know maybe they have connections into a different job field that normally wouldn’t give you a chance.

Good to know that you have created a good life. I was working as a software engineer.
I lost my job during covid. I can't find a new job. I don't have experience in other fields.

So try more software companies. If it doesn’t pan out then like I said go for a job you don’t have or have limited experience in. Ask friends and family if they know anyone or work anywhere they can help you get into that otherwise may not hire you. Just like you had to learn software, you may have to learn a different skill set. Saying you can’t find a new job is just accepting defeat. And even if you have to work at a McDonald’s or Taco Bell or something till you can find something it is still a job.

I know I will be successful one day. But for now yes I am worried. I am desperate to find a girl, date, marry and start a family I can't find a girl and solution to the problem. I am so depressed and frustrated that I can't explain.

Not at a time, but step by step. When I look at others, I feel ashamed of myself. Look at the millionaire, billionaires.

You mean you feel ashamed of not being a millionaire. That you must be nothing less than a millionaire in order to provide value.

Would you say that a painter shall not paint if their painting isn't as good as Michelangelo? That it will better to the world not having that paint?

I am ashamed that I am stuck and others are making money.

Versus just doing what you can do, and letting it get better over time.
