"When you've make your mind up forever to be mine" sort of makes it her decision, even though he says he will use every trick in to the book to make it happen. At least he isn't trying to dominate or force her into anything. He's treating her with respect. Some guys these days would say he is simping.

At least he wasn't calling women bitches and hoes.

He wrote it about Linda Lawrence, who later became his wife. He said he wrote a lot of his songs about her. So in the context, no, but I can see how someone could take it that way. Thematically it seems similar to Lou Christie's "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" so really more "Wishin' and Hopin'" (couldn't resist) than toxicity.

See, I agree with you. However, I was listening to it today and the lyrics kind of got me thinking. Maybe music like this made me too aggressive for the time period that I was raised in. And that's why I gave that girl multiple cards and love notes and letters in 5th grade. Because I thought that that was what you were supposed to do -- go after the woman confidently.

I personally believe it's the Job of the parents to teach children not to take this kind of behavior I mean I played violent video games but I've never knocked off a gas station I listen to a lot of songs about cheating and going to the club or getting completely stoned.

But I've never been to the club in my life My favorite drink is chocolate milk And I've only ever been with one man there will always be something to influence people but but it's a lame excuse for the guilty they should be raised with the strength to make good decisions even when being influenced

Busy or not a parents job is to teach there children right and wrong to give them the skills to make the right decision comes if a song can turn your kid into a drug addicts what are they going to do in school when Johny asks if they want to try something a little harder than pot and you didn't teach them to say know congratulations you've raised the next heroin addict.

Don't get me wrong I get it people are tired there burnt out and it's hard to explain to the 11 year old that she can't be twirking on the couch but nobody ever said parenting was easy there's a reason they say it takes a village but the world isn't going to change because Cortney down the street decided not to teach her kid that it's not ok to post naked pictures online there will always be bad people even if you took all the bad Media away and replaced it with jelly beans there would still be those people lurking in the shadows looking for someone stupid enough to be pulled down with them teaching them right and wrong and good judgement is really all you got
