I grew up listening to this type of music.
"When you've make your mind up forever to be mine" sort of makes it her decision, even though he says he will use every trick in to the book to make it happen. At least he isn't trying to dominate or force her into anything. He's treating her with respect. Some guys these days would say he is simping.
At least he wasn't calling women bitches and hoes.
So I don't think it's toxic at all.

He wrote it about Linda Lawrence, who later became his wife. He said he wrote a lot of his songs about her. So in the context, no, but I can see how someone could take it that way. Thematically it seems similar to Lou Christie's "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" so really more "Wishin' and Hopin'" (couldn't resist) than toxicity.
the lyrics are a little outdated and creepy, yeah. but as long as you don’t take them as real life dating advice, listening to the song is fine.
He just sounds overconfident. It takes two to tango and she hasn't given him the greenlight yet

If that's toxic, this is Chernobyl:
Latin Urban music is absolute garbage

No, not at all. It is a good song, written back in a time when pop songs were 100% real.
Thanks for sharing, this is one Bad Ass Song !!!
Yes, the music itself is a bit unnerving.
try playing those songs to some garden plants and see if they thrive, or wilt...
Nope.
A song is a song, and unless it's something political like the Internationale or Giovinezza, I can't see how it could offend some people.
Nah it's just a song now if they actually treated people like that and weren't just a song then yes
It comes across pretty creepy, at least in the context of the video.
Only if "any trick in the book" involves roofies.
No lol
