This is a way to take a load off my shoulders because thid story is a mess up.
My brother is older than me and much more shy and I decided that I had to find someone so that he would feel more accompanied, get a friend and the possibility of getting a girlfriend. The idea of using a match application in a sport like Paddel tennis occurred to me in order to meet people. After several matches we met a girl older than me and close to my brother's age, she was attractive and quite nice, so I tried to get them to be together... I always put my brother between the two of us so that he could talk to she, I talked wonderful things about him and how successful he is in his work... all great... even a little lie about his hobbies to make him even more attractive (I know it's wrong). But after a month trying to get them to be together and playing paddle tennis and other activities, she told me in private that she was interested in me... and I felt horrible. All that time what I had done without realizing it was outshining my brother because of my proactivity and a facet of extroversion (I'm really an introvert but I wanted to be like that for my brother) and I didn't realize that I ended up hogging all the attention from her... I felt very bad and I told her that I was not interested and she made it clear to me that my brother was not a choice. I stopped talking to her immediately. Since then I feel very sad whenever I think about this story.
I don't know, I wanted to share it with you and tell me your opinions and if something similar has ever happened to you...
Have you ever "stolen" a crush from someone close to you without knowing it?
My little brother had a study buddy when he was a high-school senior (i was in my first year of college) she was my age since he had repeated a year.
I came home from the beach and she was there and I was saying to my mom "I got sun burnt and need some cream" and she said "you don't look burnt" so I lifted my shirt and showed her the burn on my midsection.
(One thing to note is my brother is fatter then me making me in better shape even if not completely shredded)
Now I did that and walked away didn't even think hard on it. But later that afternoon she found me in the living room and just sat on my lap chatting up about a whole lot of nothing.
Needless to say my brother was pissed even though I didn't really make a move it just kinda happened. I eventually told her I had to go and made sure nothing actually happened but yeah he eventually ended things with her (yes he had a crush she wasn't just a study buddy. And also she was the hottest girl at school by all metrics)
Took some time but he also didn't hold it agaisnt me considering I didn't actually act on anything
Yes it happens, and pretty much the reason for it is because most girls are attracted to a guy with confidence , she was attracted to you because you were confident enough to approach her and talk to her , even though you were Trying to set your brother up , she had no interest in him to be honest because he didn’t approach her himself. Most girls I have tried hooking up with one of my friends was more interested in me than my friend , Most girls are attracted to a guy that can take lead , girls are attracted to that masculine energy that she doesn’t possess. So when a friend tells me he likes a girl , I immediately tell him Go for it , don’t be a shy wimp , grow some balls and go talk to her lol

I have. I was actually just speaking to someone about this and now I’m reading this question. But when I was in the 6th grade, my best friend had a crush on someone. I never noticed the boy ever but then when I found out she had a crush, I started to crush on him as well. Him and I lived in the same neighborhood so we would always see each other. I had a crush on him all the way until high school years. Even now if I see him, and I usually would see him every once in a blue moon, all we do is smile. He’ll look at me, smiling, and he will say my name. And I’ll do the same. We don’t converse or anything. We literally keep it short and go our separate ways. Crazy thing is I don’t believe him and I ever actually spoke even though we ended up crushing on each other. We were both quiet to each other. Anyways, My best friend at the time though never cared that he ended up being my crush. She actually stopped liking him soon after I started to crush and she would tell him I liked him when we would see him in the hall.
Mines is sorta similar but instead my friend accused me of purposely stealing her crush. So in a way it was she was crushing on him and he was crushing on me and I didn't know that he did until he told her that he was into me and wanted her help, but he didn't know that she liked him.
Twice in college. Once I felt bad about it. The other was quite deserved. Actually, I was typing it I remembered a third. Also deserved... my college roommate who was quite a douche.
Also, pet peeve: "so that he could talk to she"... no... predicate pronoun... so that he could talk to HER
I usually make it known when i like someone so if anything, other girls have tried to steal that crush from me lmao. But yea anytime I’ve come inbetween someone, it would’ve been intentionally because the girl and i likely had that “who will get him first mentality”
Im really dumb for some thing, im the classic man that doesn't get the "signals" even if you put a neon telling me I LOVE YOU 😂 so I think this kind of thing can happen again
I mean, there’s nothing really you can do to stop someone from being interested in you. They’re going to feel the way they feel. And it’s their choice on who they pick. So, really, it’s not your fault. What you did was nice for your brother and telling her you weren’t interested was a plus. I get you feel bad, but like I said, it wasn’t your fault and you did try to have her like your brother.
Ur heart was in the right place. There was nothing u could have done to prevent that. I hav never intentionally stolen someone elses boyfriend as that is fucking evil and disgusting
