What Girls Said
Ask us questions. I've struggled with this with almost all men, even now with my husband.
It seems like every time I ever met a man, I would be the one showing interest. I'd ask everything from personal questions like 'how many brothers and sisters do you have' to fun questions like 'what are your top 5 favourite movies?' and so many other things just to get to know him. However, I have so rarely had a man ask me anything about me. While he sits there and talks about what his opinions are about things, or talking about his work, I'll sit there, interested, asking him things to hear more, but then everything takes a dive when it comes to me.
Not asking questions, even fun things, is a bit of a drag for the person not being asked. It's like we have to sit there and wonder if we have to volunteer information, and if we do, will it just seem like we're selfishly talking about ourselves?
To this day, I'll sit with my husband at dinner, and ask him questions about so many things, and just once I'd like him to ask me what I thought about the movie we just watched, or ask me how my own work is going. He never does. He never did.
To this day, he has no idea if I'm a cat person or a dog person. Dark chocolate or light chocolate. He wouldn't be able to tell you what my favourite flowers are. He doesn't ask me anything. Never has.
I heard someone say once, "Someone who finds a person interesting, is interesting to that person." I feel like that's always been me. I'm the one asking and showing interest, as if the guy has a captivated audience in me. I would have always liked the same feeling back, but I've yet to ever have it.
