What can I do about the guy I like who messages me every 2-3 days?

I love him but he just keeps messaging me every few days and after a few texts he disappears. He will keep doing this over 50 times. He will say he misses me. We have dated before and I've known him for almost a year now. I don't know what he wants from me and i'm confused but I tried blocking him but for some reason always endd up unblocking and he texts
