What does it mean if a 50 something man that you have been going out with for 2 years all of a sudden changes things up and text and video calls you?

Both of us are single and we have been going out to the movies and such for the past 2 years. He goes on cruises but this one he has been texting while at ports of calls and video chatted to show me the water, architecture and surroundings. It is out of character for him and not sure what exactly to think.
