What are some things that make you like someone as a person, compared to liking them romantically?

Friendship is the baseline for me, so we need to be compatible as friends first.


Then, there needs to be that additional spark of special chemistry that is hard to predict, but when it’s right, it’ll all feels very in sync.


It’s as if we are subconsciously drawn to each other, it’s unclear exactly how or why, but we can both just feel it.


So I suppose in short, it’s friendship + special chemistry.


But, just because there may be an attraction, it doesn’t mean I automatically move forward.


There’s the whole logistical part that needs to be factored in. (e. g. Would they make a good wife, why or why not? Are they already taken? What are their values and morals? Etc.)


But that’s a discussion for another time, since you’re talking about what’s required to like someone — not what’s your process to court someone. 🙂

Well.. personality. I can enjoy spending time with someone and like them for they are, without having any romantic attachment. We’re not romantically compatible with everyone.

There’s no simple answer to that. You either are romantically compatible or not. There’s no definite characteristics that are going to guarantee my romantic attraction towards someone.
