+1 yWet met in the 6th grade and we pretty much instantly became best friends but I think it was 7th grade when I started noticing how cute he is and I developed a crush on him but I was too scared to tell him because I thought if I told him and he didn't feel the same way things would be weird between us anyway fast forward to our last year of high school and he kinda started dropping hints that he liked me too like I was on my to science class once and he held the building door open for me, another time we were at lunch and he let me go ahead of him in line, the month before graduation we went on a college tour together and he said he wanted to be near me the whole time and I got cold one time and he gave me his jacket but I was oblivious to all the signs and thought he was just being a great friend anyway fast forward to last year in July he texted me one night and asked if he tell me a secret and I said sure and then he told me that he liked me when we were younger and that he still does and I said I liked him too then he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes and as now we've been together for a year and three months and I couldn't be happier

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIf you met on a dating site, I believe you starting the relationship off handicapped right from the get go. After the excitement wears off after around 3 months, many women, who have dating profiles, experience their interest levels drop far more than a mans will simply because they know that they have a 100 other guys who when they matched, gave her the oxytocin release she's been accustomed to receiving through these apps. Its hard for them to go from getting that high constantly to now 3 months in a relationship that has become stable where each day is similar to the one before. Dating and having sex with someone new is always going to be more exciting and when women are conditioned to get a high casually dating. Hard to compete with that level of excitement for them

I be honest, I dont think relationships are doomed if the guy spent to much time on dating apps before but it is a pattern I notice irl aswell.
Am in a group were we chat about such things and those that found serious relationships from dating apps did so with girls/women that just installed the app for the first time a few days ago.
Not women are to blame tho, it just does something with your psyche to feel this wanted.
One of my male friends who is really handsome gets +100 likes a day. He got a really hard time commiting and even when he found one that he was really happy with he just couldnt stop beeing on the apps while dating her. Took him over half a year to finally deinstall the apps and its not like he would miss out on something if it didn't work out with his looks.
Opinion Owner+1 yI didn't mean the guy spent time. My post was one long run on sentence haha.
I meant that the effect is on women, not men
Opinion Owner+1 yAhh so I guess based on your friends experience, it certainly can have the same effect
Opinion Owner+1 yI hear ya. I used tinder in 2012 when I it first came out for couple months. Had good luck but I suspect the algorithm was nothing like it is today. After that, towards the end of that period, I realized the app did nothing for my ability to be just a GQ in public. So I had to learn at around 20 how to actually go up to women and spark interest
I suspect this has been an unintended consequence of all the apps that are so prevalent today- +1 y
Ah the golden tinder years, were everyone and everything was new and exciting. At least thats what I heard, still to young to use dating apps back then.
Any tipps for approaching alone in public? Or how your first time were? I was since 18 in a relationship until just a year ago and pretty new to dating and even approaching in public.
Opinion Owner+1 yHonestly, what works for one person will be terrible for another. You need to just be comfortable with your own approach to where you come off confident.
Yeah I'd skip the apps and just learn to approach. No one approached these days so this will set you apart. Understand you will be turned down over and over in the beginning. Once something starts working, stick with it. If it fails next time, try again. After a couple times, start playing with it where you change a detail or two vs trying something completely new everytime.

I live out in the country so pickens are pretty slim and really don't like doing the meat market bar thing.
Plus, I am pretty busy, so it was way easier to meet women that way.
Also, you get to know some basics about them beforehand.10 Reply
