Is this cutting it too close?

This isn't happening to me, but, let's say it was or it was happening to someone else.

The legal age of consent here is 16. A girl a guy over 18 likes, is 15.5 and JUST about to turn 16. Is it still wrong to try and get with her?

yes, especially if you get caught, or someone has their undies in a bundle over it.
At that age 6 moths is an eternity, but it is better to wait.

No I mean, they're 15.5 and they're basically literally about to be 16, as in, it's much more than 6 months

according to my math, which I do in my head, 15.5 is 15 years old and six months which is a half of a year.
So, in six months they will be 16 and legal to hit, so wait until they are 16.
I reread the post and I must be missing something.

Legally: it depends upon whether or not the state has a "close in age" exception that allows it.

I think if they’re 18 but still like a senior in HS, then its okay to date someone 16 going on 17. Probably shouldn't go below that
