That’s not the real reason he’s ending things. He’s just not into you anymore and since he spends so much time in that program, he likely found someone new there. The best thing you can do now is to not react. Don’t say another word to him. Just disappear. No one likes needy or clingy. You’d be doing yourself a disservice by saying anything else.
I have heard similar stories so many times over the years with most of my staff college age and the same story as yours. What I did notice from them was and especially those going into nursing was that it can be very intense especially during there clinicals or whatever they are called and they need the study time so in your case stay close to him, give him support and let him know you don't expect much romance time until (WE) get you through this program. Try that and good luck
