What is the logic behind addressing someone we are in love with "baby"?

I dunno, I guess it's just like an affectionate way to address someone you really care about. Like when you're really into a girl, you just kinda wanna call her something sweet you know? Baby just sounds all cute and loving. Makes her feel special I bet. Like she's your whole world or something. Plus in songs it's always "my baby" so I think people just started saying it cause it became this romance thing. Doesn't really make much sense when you think about it haha, but it works I guess!

it's just another "term of endearment" that people do use to refer to someone they're in love with... it's one of few or many other words people use...

I for example, got called "love" often... it's another term of endearment

I don’t know about everyone else but my family and I use it as a term of affection (it’s platonically used majority in my life.) I see people in relationships call each other this and many other variations. Sometimes it makes me cringe but majority of the time I ignore it because it’s a very common nickname for couples.

I don't know if there's any logic to it or not I think it's just a little pet name and most of the time it works I think it's because when you like this person and as for me I would look at her as who she is but also I want to cuddle her and hold her you know like a baby almost so she's just baby LOL
