By not blocking someone back are you showing them they have control or is it better to not give a reaction by not blocking back?

Nobody has control of nobody it's called petty bullshit it's called acting like a five-year-old.. the person is butt hurt and they want to teach you a lesson so they block you who cares if that's who they want to be that's who they're going to be doesn't mean that you have to block back it doesn't mean that he's in control it means that he's acting like a five-year-old and he's wasting a bunch of time and energy by acting that way

Blocking someone has gone beyond it's original purpose in my opinion.
To me it shows the level of maturity of that particular person or rather his inability to deal with a situation.
Yes it's definitely worth it to block someone if they're harrassing you or stalking you kinda but not in any other situation.
So it's not ideal to block somebody only because you have an issue you're not able to fix.

I think blocking people is only for extreme circumstances. One girl sent 300+ texts between 1 am and 3 am so I blocked her.

Because GaG is questions and answers, blocking somebody is saying you are to immature to accept different views. If you only want your view why ask a question for god's sake?

Not blocking them back sends the message that you don't care if they block you or not.

Unless they're constantly bombarding you with spam and dickpics just ignore them. Let them see the blue ticks and no reply. It's more effective than blocking them because you retain control over if you want to respond. And the evidence if you need a restraining order.

I block back on this site so I don’t accidentally write out a whole response to a question of theirs only to be greeted with a message saying it can’t be posted.
I don’t really use much other social media these days, so I don’t put too much thought into it.

Would the person even know? Anyone, I do not see the point in blocking. The only one I blocked on here was an abnoxious troll who stalked every post I made. The troll account was soon gone and I have not felt it necessary to block anyone since.
