    Cold turkey.

I don't remember why, possibly because I was looking for a guitarist, I started e-mailing this kid that worked at the Wal-Mart a mile or 2 from my house. If he asked me something, and I'd give a fairly detailed response and his response to that was almost always, "That's really cool that you did that." [Whatever it was that I mentioned to him.] No matter what I told him about in the e-mails, his response to each item was, "That's really that you did/said that." After a week or so of getting nothing but that kind of response, I decided to just not write back one day, partly because there just wasn't anything to say to what he last wrote. I haven't heard from him, since!

Detach isn't the right word here I think.

I think the right word is acceptance. Acceptance suggests you are integrating or have integrated the good and bad experience (s) in your mind and can continue on with life in a normal way. Sure, you might feel joy or sadness at the memory that crops up from time to time but that is normal. The vividity of the memory fades with time.

No contact. Get rid of anything that’ll remind me of that person. Start thinking about the horrible things they’ve done to me so I stop seeing them in such a positive light lol

I don't detach they detach from me. It's hard for me to let a person go so they usually go first.

Honestly, if I no longer want to be with her or if she no longer wants to be with me, that is enough. To stay together when one is not into it (continuously, not over temporary issue), would be unfair to both.

Note: I tend to be dispassionate about these things so my advice is not necessarily great if someone is more emotionally driven.

Just tell them that you're no longer interested in being involved with them.

No, it was a question that was on my news feed from Google. I thought it would be a good question for GaG. 🙂

I was off awhile, I know you’re available now but that’s probably the only way to move on is to find someone else
