Am I wrong for wanting to pay for my stuff instead of 50/50?

For context, I went on a date with this guy we went to this nice kinda pricy restaurant. I told him I’ll pay for what I buy but I guess he thought I meant 50/50. He ordered steak, lamb, golden stuffed potato, etc while I just ordered a salad and a drink. He ordered over 90 dollars just for himself while I only ordered 30. And when the time came to pay I told the waitress to give a separate bill I’ll pay for the salad and drink he will pay for his stuff. He started screaming at me and getting mad and at this point I just paid for my stuff and left.

Am I wrong for this?

You're not wrong for this at all, it's perfectly normal to pay for your own meal. It's really childish that he would throw a fit because you aren't covering part of his bill.

Honestly that's a pretty big red flag. Usually he should be offering to pay yours if anything, as a gentlemanly gesture. If that's enough for him to flip out, then I worry what other little things he could snap at you for. Might be worth considering moving on from this person

Paying for your own stuff in a way is 50/50 least that’s my personal definition of it. They pay for theirs, you pay for yours
