• She might be a controlling mother that bothers a lot about his love life and might be very interfering.
• He might be co-dependant son who leans heavily on is mother for personal advice
• He might be signaling to you that he's very comfortable with you and wants you as part of his larger family unit
• He might think that telling you that might gain him favour in considering him as a serious prospect
• He might be too comfortable with you and be already planning a future regarding you (e. g. it could be creepy)

First thing, it means he is close with his mom to be comfortable to share everything about him and what's going in his life, second he is confident about you and confidentiality accept your presence in his life. He has no shame to accept it. Third, he likes you. Maybe he may want you in his life in future if everything goes well.

Yes he is very close to his mom. His mom was the one who told me that he had said all this about me. She said when my name is mentioned, a smile comes into his face. She encouraged me to keep in touch with him to feel free to talk to him about his day and week also. I didn't know if she's doing reverse psychology on me to do the opposite or if she genuinely means it. Because she told me before that he isn't the best at reaching out, so for me to reach out to him and he will always reply.

No this is not reverse psychology. There are few lucky people out there who has some really good well-wishers in their lives who really want them to see happy so she is helping you both. Believe her and if you really like that guy and you really want this relationship to go further go for it. Because it seems he is serious about you. Maybe he likes you on the level of love. If you want to stop this relationship this is time to backfoot or else he is going to have deep feelings for you.
