What does it mean when a guy tells his mom about you?

This guy and I have been talking for about 6 months now but never met. I'm 22 and his 24. We both live in different states. He recently told me that he told me that he told his mom about me and also told me that him and his mom are so close. So I'm wondering did he tell me mom about me because of that fact that he is so close to her or it could be something else. He also already bought a ticket to fly over to come meet me soon. He told me that he wants to surprise his mom when he arrives to my state that he finally met me. I'm not sure what his real intentions are. (But what I know is that "some" guys can fly across anywhere just for sex) but I hope thats not what he came for. So I'm not really sure what his intentions are to really come see me.

I don't know. The way I see it you could either take it at face value, or don't. If you ask me what it really means is that the guy probably has a really low IQ and told his mom that he met a stranger on the internet and expects her to be really happy for him... On top of that he also went ahead and told the stranger that he told his mom about them, and now he's flying over to go see that stranger in person... To me none of this makes any sense. Why waste money to go meet a person when you have absolutely no idea who they are?

I wouldn't consider someone having a low IQ because they told their parent about me. On the other hand, yes him and I are still strangers but we have been talking for approximately 6 months so its not much of a stranger. Other than that, not everyone would consider it "wasting money" when they travel to meet someone new. We are here to explore, just my personal opinion.

That still doesn't mean anything. There are plenty of people out there that are capable of lying convincingly over chat. For all either of you know the other person could be a former convict that just finished a 10-year sentence.

Id say its a good sign because it sounds like you made a good impression on him. As for meeting him, just follow some basic rules, like meeting him in a public place and not inviting him into your home right off the bat. If he hints about hooking up, make it clear that's not what you want right now.

Well "telling family" may or may not "mean" something, depending on the individual person. I think it means more to some than for others. But, one thing that's almost a for sure, nobody is going to tell family members about someone they "just want sex" from lol. He might want sex (we all do), but that's not ALL.

Thats true. Almost all guys love sex lol. Vise versa for girls.. as for me personally I wouldn't tell my mom about a guy I dont like, so if I ever mention to her a guy im seeing, then he must be special to me or I see potential in him.
