What does it mean when a guy calls you mom?

I know this sounds really fucking weird but a lot of guys at my school do this. One guy I started talking to randomly labelled me mom, and I know a lot of other guys at my school do this to some of their girl-friends as well. Is it supposed to be sarcastic, telling me that I nag them like a mother? Or is it just something guys do to weird a girl out or some weird way to make a girl feel closer to you? like a term of endearment? ? have you guys ever done this to a girl?

ok, to clarify: he doesn't say things like "gee, thanks mom." i will walk into a room and he'll be like "hey mom!" like out of the blue. and he didn't start calling me that because i told him to do something. he literally just started calling me that. i was sitting in a class with him and he just starting calling me mom. i wasn't even talking to him at the time.

A guy i just met calls me mom sometimes mammy or mommy. were just friends. strarted when we were fooling around oj text and he pretended to be my husband and i pretended to be his wife and he was threatening to punish our kids for misbehavior and I was begging him not to that I will fix it. it was so funny. but that's when I got tagged 'mom'. Were real close now and I like it. feels ok cos he don't act like a baby or something. he's actually all dominant. don't worry about it. one day I just asked and he said "cause ur gona be mom to my kids' so we just laughed. lol. its nothing.

There is a term in the relationship world called mothering and men don't like to be mothered. Mothering refers to the act of correcting people, making sure they're taking care of themselves, etc. If you have this type of tendency, even if you do it for sincere and unselfish reasons, you will have the label of mom or mother applied to you.

when a guy calls you mom more times than not he likes you or views you as a girl that is cool as heck to hangout with

you're the person they will come to with their problems or just to small talk in general

I disagree. Whenever I've called a woman my mom it was not meant as a compliment. It was a sarcastic way of calling her bossy or overprotective.

A he likes you while probably want to know more about you

B you give off that "COOL-CALM-TRUSTWORTHY" type vibe and they see that, dont be surprised if those same guys open up to you telling you their lifestory lol

It started with guys calling each other "dad".
Just super casually for no real reason.

And then it spread into calling girls "mom".

And now girls are calling their favorite female celebrities "mom" on Twitter.

It doesn't mean too much. I would hold it akin to "dude".
Or at the most, the ironic tone of "Senpai".

but i know 1st hand girls-boys have no problem calling certain girls mom that are within their age group

most of the time if its another girl saying it that mean they look up to the person and trust them

It means you act like a mom. They do it as an insult. Whenever you get called mom, guy's are insinuating that you're treating them like their mom does. For example, you may say "hey, pick that up," and they'll respond "ok, mom." So, yes, it's like you're nagging them like a mother.

I would playfully call a girl mom like in role play but it doesn't mean she was bossing me

I say that sometimes it's a way that somebody signifies that you're important to them.
My friend Pablo calls a few good friends of his mom and he loves them. So I guess it just depends on the person but from what I've seen it normally means that they consider you a good friend. Or they just call you mom to show that you're acting like a mother instead of a peer.
