What are you looking for in a partner?

I don't just mean the generic "loyalty" and "common" interests.

What interests do you want to have in common. What activities do you want to be able to do together. What show's do you want to watch together.

What style would you want her/him to have. How close to your own age would you want them to be.

Specific things. What are some specific things, big or small, you want out of a partner?


For example a girl who watches Star Trek and Listens to Dream Theater will immediately and automatically have my attention.

I’m going to answer this just because I don't know if i’ll be single come April. I really let this dude go off the rails and i’ve broken so many of my rules and standards. Its almost torture and I’m annoyed that he became the exception to the rule. So yea If we dont work out, i never wanna let a mf slide and ice skate like this again. So i’m going to name what I’d prefer for if we don’t workout, and technically what I’ve always preferred————— #1 I believe its best I be with someone who is of the same race/ethnicity even if just half/quarter/full. I have always dated any race/ethnicity/nationality but some topics are just complicated and it would be easier if the guy could at least partially relate. The issue was mainly their parents/fam not agreeing with our interracial relationship and im just tired of that. Its not a dealbreaker if he is of another race but it’s a preference that he be of the same. #2 I definitely NEED for him to believe in God and even be willing to attend church on occasion. I have tried to date 2 non-believers, one being a full on atheist and the other riding the fence. All of my other exes were believers and I need that in my life. I like having someone willing to pray with me every night. He doesn’t have to necessarily be apart of a religion but believing in God is a must at this rate. #3 I have always said smoking is a dealbreaker. My first boyfriend used to sneak and do it and once I found out I was very turned off. I do not want to be with another smoker. I used to say drinking was okay as long as it was on occasion. But after dating a damn near alcoholic, I definitely prefer a guy who doesn’t drink. I don’t myself. #4 I want someone who is ready for kids. I understand we still need time to build but i at least want marriage/kids to be one of their main short term goals. I’m sick of being lead on. #5 I still prefer someone with a low body count (not even remotely close to the double digits). I also prefer the guy not expect sex for the first 3-6 months. Other sexual things will happen until then and sex could happen sooner if I previously knew the guy. But if i’m meeting him for the first time, then sex is unlikely the first 6 months. I don't know if I’d date another virgin since i feel like 2 of them just wanted to lose their vcard. #6 Yes I prefer someone same age (i just turned 29.) If not the same age, then I’ll take 25-32 as long as they are done with school and employed. #7 Looks— Height anywhere from 5’7-6’3. Cute face. Nice smile/smirk. Slim physique to average body build. Lowcut hair. Little to no piercings or tattoos. Preferably no facial, hand, chest nor pube hair. #8 Needs to be living in the USA and willing to live in a southern state like NC, TX, GA, or TN. #9 Personality wise— lonewolf, goofy, respectful, romantic, passionate, kind, caring, poetic, humble, determined, genuine, monogamous, talkative, masculine, understanding, decisive, great listener, optimistic, courageous, encouraging, witty, loving, and nurturing. Hopefully he is rarely sarcastic and has a light hearted sense of humor as well. I’d also prefer he speak fluent English. I’d also like if he's a bit of a homebody. Preferably no indoor pets and is not obsessed with politics. Preferably not a cop nor in the military but thank you for your service. #10 Common interests- Hopefully he has a creative mindset, appreciates all genres of music, likes baseball, knows something about cars, loves watching movies/shows, enjoys going to theme parks, and would be interested in trying out paddleboarding, snowboarding or surfing together. #11 Love language is preferably words of affirmation or quality time. #12 Dress style- street, casual or sporty; plaid shirts, tracksuits, sweatpants, graphic tees, bootcut or regular fit jeans, tennis shoes/kicks, thrasher, hoodies, under armour, nike, adidas, carhart, ralph lauren polo, American eagle, abercrombie, crew tees, vnecks, baseball jerseys, basketball shorts, henleys, and khakis

I want a partner who has a good sense of humour, who is intelligent & caring and someone to cuddle up with after a long day

casual sporty look, happy to be active outdoors, able to be out for long hikes, cycle rides, bit older than myself

I’d also like a man who is handy around tools - not for selfish reasons to get things done, but I admire if people have skills like that and create and build stuff and can fix broken things

someone who likes sci-fi / phantasy - that wouldn’t be the most important aspect - though it would help if he liked dragons and elves 😂

I have some strange things I can geek out over like old maps for example so it would be nice if he’d share some of those interests too

my music taste is quite varied though I’d struggle with someone who was into techno / dance stuff a lot as that would become tedious over time.
