With my wife, I started dating her after around a year of being good friends but I didn't base it on time. It was because we started dancing and kissed each other. So after kissing each other that way, it seemed like the right time to ask her out on a date.

It actually would have been weird if we didn't go on a date after dancing and kissing like that, if we just went back to being friendly like nothing happened. So it was a no-brainer in my case to ask her out after we kissed.

@Violet_78 I think almost from the time we met. We had the flirtationship type of thing going and every time we hung out, we had a tendency to blow off our friends by talking to each other at the edge of the party.

@Violet_78 Hope things work out there! It kind of seems like an inevitability in my case in hindsight and kind of silly that we took so long to get around to dating. Yet I came out of a pretty bad breakup a couple years before that (was engaged to be married), and after that, I recovered by practically giving up on relationships and just being down for good times with friends. Still, I was became magnetically drawn to my wife and she became the person I was most looking forward to talking to every weekend, and that seemed true of her as well.

So it hasn’t been verbally stated. You should clarify that because all those emojis aren’t words or confirmation. I have two male friends who text with hearts, but neither ever formally said they had feelings or asked me out. I’ve been in a relationship for 4 years now, and still when they text to ask about something or invite us out, they use hearts.
