@oddbeme I lean to it being a genetic defect in thought process myself. There was a demonic psychotic family that lived on my street for 22 long months. Both parents were completely unhinged along with the oldest kid. The youngest remained sweet snd unaffected, even when coached to do horrible behaviors at 6 (yes literally coached) she waited till the three weren't looking and undid what was told or simply pretended to. Felt so bad for that kid. Think she must have graduated last year and finally left the mess for school. Shows good can come from evil.

I think one of the reasons it's difficult is because our life has become less communal but also more convenient. In the past life was harder but you had your tribe and everyone was in it together and the difficulty of life just pushed you closer together. Today life is easier but a lot of people don't have this group they really belong with. So the negative aspects of dating are way more noticeable because the rest of your life is custom fitted to you. So the difficult parts about the other person stand out more.

But that's just one of many reasons.

I'm not afraid of the expectations. I meet a lot of them. I'm just also not under the impression that they're warranted by most of the people that hold them. When the 40y. o. 5'2" 180lb single mother of 3 who works 2 full time jobs and does OF on the weekends thinks she's the prize, that's a game I never signed up to play. I'd just as soon throw darts for bags of dried scabs.
