I'm a bit confused. He compliments your features, but hardly ever tells you you're pretty? Isn't that mostly the same thing? You say you're not really pretty, but you are not looking through his eyes. People tend to be more critical of themselves. Even if he thinks you are only average looking, he could be into your other qualities, which would be much better than liking just your looks. Liking just he outside is very superficial.

I know this is a crazy thing to actually write out, but have you considered the possibility that he genuinely just has a higher opinion of you than you have of yourself?
