I'm to shy to try and talk with women, especially in front of other people?

Rejection for a man is one of the most humiliating things for a guy like me. Especially when you build up so much courage to not even get a response back so for that reason I'm scared to talk to women and I even more scared of getting rejected in front of people. I try to work on just saying Hello but I just can't help when I see a pretty women all I can do is just look and imagine what it would be like to have a Lady like her in my life. I'm very average looking, maybe a good 6-7 on my best day so I always tell myself what would me giving her a compliment or just saying Hello to her would make a difference vs the 100s of guys she probably has to deal with on a daily basis and I don't wanna be feel like that 101th guy to feel like im annoying her or wasting her time.

What are decent tips or advice for ugly/average looking Men to talk to women without looking annoying or creepy.

I'm 6'2 and and already athletic looking so don't tell me that I need to hit the gym..
