Why are people making fun of my date and mine height differences?

My friend introduced me to her cousin and we started speaking like three weeks ago. We went on our first date two Fridays ago and we had amazing time. He didn’t care how tall I was. I don’t care about his life because he’s amazing and we’re just getting to know each other. When we went on our first day, people gave us looks but we didn’t care. One of my cousins asked me if I’m embarrassed to be seen with a shorter guy. I mean my ex boyfriend was 5’7”
My date is 6’2 and I’m 6’4”. The 2 inch difference. So what?
