Should I keep texting?

Should I keep texting this guy I've been casually dating. At first we would text back and forth all the time then it became less and less. If I text him he does respond, sometimes right away sometimes it could be hours later. I see him in passing average once a week for a short time everything seems fine. I made a comment to him once because he finally responded to something I sent days ago. I said oh I thought you hated me again. He said no apparently I'm a bad texted. My question is should I stop texting him altogether or continue to casually text. I like him I just can't tell how much he still likes me since we are casual.

Here's what I think sis -

I'd say cut back on texting him for now. He already admitted he's a bad texter, so I wouldn't take long responses personally. BUT, by pulling back some you can also feel out how much he steps up to maintain contact.

See if he starts initiating more when he doesn't hear from you as much. Does he ask to hang out, or does he get distant too? His response will tell you where his heads at.

In the meantime, focus on living your best life! Hit up your gal pals, have fun without him. That way when you do see him you're not over-invested and can play it cool.

If he doesn't start making more effort after you chill on texts, you'll know he may just be half-assing it and not that serious. Then you can dip out and find someone who makes you a priority, feel me?

Do you feel like the relationships going to go any farther than where it's at already

I would like it to and when we talk sometimes he'll say we need to put that on our list of things to do. Then nothing happens but it could also be because of finances

Yes we both work and are both frugal with money at times. If I try to pay he would refuse but I know he's saving to buy a house

I am early 40's he is late 20's

When we met each other it was good vibes and had fun random conversations ( we work in the same area) but we didn't know or I didn't there was that age gap

Since you’re casual you should not be expecting him to text you and check on you all the time or be consistent. To me casual means you guys see and talk to each other whenever is convenient because chances are he’s seeing other people at the same time. If you’re expecting more than that you won’t probably get it from this guy.
