Why would a guy ask if he is good or not?

We have been friends for 2years.. and I frequently joke “you are bad” and he always say im good (PERSONALITY WISE). Then randomly yesterday, he ask me “do you ever think im good” i was trying to avoid answering it, cuz honest truth, he is not that great hahaha.. but then he keeps on asking again and again. Then i just answered it.
But yeah, actually, its my first time ever hearing someone asking such question to me, kinda wonder why (if anyone ever do it before as well, let me know why you ask people such question)

Hmm that is kinda weird that he kept pressing you for an answer like that. As a guy, I can think of a few possible reasons he might have asked:

- He could have feelings for you and was fishing for a compliment, like hoping to hear you say he's good boyfriend material or something.

- Low self-esteem issue maybe, where he constantly needs validation from friends. That'd get old fast though.

- Setting you up to feel bad saying no so you'd say yes just to not hurt his feelings. Kinda manipulative.

- Just really insecure and Takes your joking insults seriously so wanted reassurance. Still fragile ego there.

- Odds are good he DOES have some interest in you if he's that pressed about your opinion specifically.

Either way, I'd be annoyed too if a friend kept badgering me like that. Might want to distance a bit and see how he reacts. Could give away if he's got more than friend feels brewing. Avoid directly flattering him if so - you don't wanna lead him on!

I don't know he sounds childish or stupid or he really wanted to know more about himself. Dont think thats a bad thing. Allah accepts all of us even when they are strain apart.
